Ahhh!! Good luck on making tamales without Abuelita!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!! You got this!!

I discovered Trader Joe's tamales during COVID lockdown and was severely depressed that I would be missing out on the tamale making back home. They truly are not half bad considering you get to forgo the manual labor/time.

I grew up in the church of Our Lady Of Guadalupe and Las Posadas was definitely a whole entire pageant production there. All the kids in catechism were assigned a role every year, parents made elaborate costumes, it was really the only fun thing about catechism. I got to play the angel that carried Jesus to Mary and Joseph one year. Quite the honor. Afterwards there would be tamales, chocolate, pan dulce, champurrado, it was great.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday, Maribel!!! Let us know how the tamale making goes! Sending all of my love. 💕

Well, they look like the ones in your photo. Maybe there are regional differences in the variety of fillings and seasonings used. ?

When I heat some up later tonight I should make a photo.

Google Delia's Tamales in San Antonio TX, they have photos and if you hurry they ship nationwide.

I've never had Trader Joe's so I can't compare.

I love a good tamale anytime. I'm neither Catholic or Hispanic but grew up eating a lot of "Tex-Mex".

Yesterday I went to San Antonio and stood in line for over an hour and a half for tamales at Delia's which seems to have a cult-like following. I buy frozen for gifts and hot to eat as soon as I get home. Yum!

Ooo! Are Tex-Mex tamales different somehow than plain ol' Mexican/Cali tamales?? :)

Oh, a good tamale can put a smile on any grump's face, methinks. When I found out Trader Joe's sells tamales and they turned out to be not half bad, I looked at my husband and said: "This is going to be a problem." lol
