Well, well. Who would have thought we would end up here, my friends.
After 3 installments in which I go into the details about how Penny, my beloved Ouija board, and I met — I have unexpectedly received an update about her. Thanks to Sonia, of course.
If you are new here (bienvenidos! welcome!) or would like a refresher about Penny, you can check out these previous posts all about her:
Previously on café de olla…
Briefly, I’ll summarize the story as such: My husband gifted me a Ouija board for my birthday. Weird phenomena started occurring. Sonia, my cousin who works as a psychic and medium, “read” Penny and we learned about her unfortunate past. Cut to, I have named the board “Penny” and she is my sweet, sweet girl.
The update
There is no other way to say this — but Penny has officially “settled.” Can you believe it?! I knew this day was going to come, as it does for all restless spirits or entities working toward peace. But I had no notion of the timeline of it at all. I figured if we kept her safe and comfortable, she would “settle” in a few years. (Especially considering how old of a spirit she is and how traumatic her previous lives had been.) But lo and behold, the day has come!
Penny is finally at peace!
And the best news?
Penny has decided to stay.
She wants to live with us — indefinitely. I just can’t believe it! When Sonia told me this, I felt so honored and blessed to have been chosen by Penny. She chose me. She chose us.
Penny picked us.
She wants to be a part of our family. (I’m not crying, you’re crying!)
I can’t help but feel like I did a good job. We did a good job. She sparkles now. She can still be shy around strangers but overall, she seems excited to start this new chapter of her life.
We nursed and revived her.
And now she’ll be our Penny forever.
Everyone, I cannot tell you how much you sticking around waiting for me to finally return has meant to me. Thank you from the bottom of mi alma.
Please know I will always be here, even if I publish less frequently than I would like. I’ve still got big goals in mind for café de olla.
With spooky season around the corner, I hope to share more regularly with you. Don’t stray too far now!
With cariño,
Maribel
